Itinerary:
- Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins as you leave the bustling town of Arusha and head to Tarangire National Park, a gem known for its majestic baobab trees and impressive elephant populations. After arriving, embark on a thrilling game drive through landscapes dotted with wildlife including giraffes, lions, impalas, and ostriches.
You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, and continue exploring until late afternoon. As evening falls, you’ll settle into a public campsite just outside the park, where your crew will prepare a hot meal while you relax by the fire, listening to the sounds of the African bush.
Overnight: Public campsite near Tarangire
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
- Day 3: Cultural Walk & Drive to Serengeti
Start your morning with a cultural walking tour in Mto wa Mbu, where you’ll meet local farmers, visit banana plantations, and learn about Tanzanian daily life. After the cultural experience, you’ll begin the drive to Serengeti National Park, passing through the lush Ngorongoro highlands.
As you enter the Serengeti, the vast open plains unfold before you—home to one of the most spectacular wildlife shows on earth. You’ll enjoy a game drive en route to your bush campsite in central Serengeti, where your tents will be set up in unfenced wilderness, allowing for a fully immersive safari experience.
- Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, begin a slow game drive out of the Serengeti, taking in any missed sights or new animal activity along the way. You’ll stop at a Maasai boma (village) for a cultural interaction, where you can learn about traditional Maasai life, their homes, customs, and songs.
By late afternoon, arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater rim campsite, where temperatures are cooler and views of the crater are breathtaking. As night falls, enjoy a warm meal and the feeling of sleeping near one of nature’s most extraordinary marvels.
- Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, you’ll journey to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact but biodiverse park famous for its flamingo-lined lake and tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a full-day game drive, taking in scenes of baboons in the forested areas, elephants near the water, and hippos in the lake’s shallows.
You’ll break for lunch at a scenic picnic site, then continue exploring until evening. Dinner and overnight will be at a campsite near Mto wa Mbu, a vibrant cultural village nestled between Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley Escarpment.
- Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti
Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti, where wildlife roams freely across endless savannah. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the Great Migration, with hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras crossing the plains.
Your guide will help track predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, often seen stalking their prey. You’ll break for a picnic lunch under an acacia tree, then continue your exploration. At night, return to your camp for dinner and storytelling around the campfire.
- Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Rise early for a quick breakfast before descending 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken caldera and one of the richest wildlife viewing spots on earth. Spend half the day exploring the crater floor, where you may spot rhinos, lions, elephants, flamingos, jackals, and more.
You’ll enjoy lunch beside a hippo pool before ascending back to the rim and heading back to Karatu for a final night at a budget campsite or lodge, where you can shower and rest before your return to Arusha.
- Day 7: Return to Arusha
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning drive back to Arusha, arriving by midday. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your incredible 7-day bush camping safari with Dayshamo Safaris.
Come as a traveler, leave as family.
